Odisha U-19 women suffer hat-trick of defeats

Odisha under-19 women cricketers suffered a hat-trick of defeats when they went down to Assam by 68 runs in their East Zone league match here at Nimpur Ground today. This was the third successive defeat for Odisha, who earlier lost to Tripura by 20 runs and Jharkhand by 162 runs. Odisha will play their fourth and last league match against Bengal on November 20.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, Assam made 137 for six in 50 overs thanks to a 73-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Ruhina Pegu and Rasmi Dey. Odisha captain Sangeeta Khadia was the most successful bowler for her side, scalping four wickets for 11 runs.

In reply, the home team was restricted to 69 for nine in 50 overs. Indrani Chhatria was the only Odisha batsman to reach double figures. Kakoli Saikia did maximum damage to the Odisha batting line-up, bagging four wickets for 12 runs.
